El Pingüino Rey (Aptenodytes patagonicus) es una ave migratoria que se moviliza desde sus sitios de reproducción en algunas islas sub-antárticas en busca de alimento. En las costas de Tierra del Fuego sabemos que ha sido un visitante frecuente desde la época en que vivían los Selknam debido a que se han encontrado restos óseos de pingüino rey en sus sitios arqueológicos. Los Selknam los llamaban Kèj ‘emkenn.
